Hello, I'm olivia
I am a Consultant Clinical Psychologist and Executive Coach with over 20 years experience in healthcare. I specialise in helping surgeons and surgical teams perform well and stay well under pressure.

Whether you're coping with an adverse event, leading under pressure, dealing with burnout, navigating interpersonal conflict, or simply striving to sustain high performance and wellbeing over the long term, I provide specialist psychological interventions and consultancy tailored to the realities of surgical practice.
I offer a confidential space to reflect, understand, and make meaningful changes. Together we will draw on evidence-based psychological interventions based on an understanding of surgical culture and its demands.
Whether you're looking for one-to-one input, post-incident support, team training, or a keynote talk I aim to bring a compassionate, empowering, and pragmatic approach to helping you and your teams perform well and stay well under pressure.

a bit about me
I completed the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Bristol in 2008 and specialised in cancer and surgical services, supporting patients to make informed decisions about complex interventions, and working to help them live as fully as possible whatever their circumstances.
My awareness of the pressures that colleagues were under, and the impact that this could have on the quality of patient care, led me to dedicate my career to the wellbeing of healthcare professionals and teams, and to develop psychologically-informed initiatives that promote a culture of compassion. I co-founded and lead a Parliamentary award-winning staff psychology service at North Bristol NHS Trust.

I have become attuned to the unique pressures that surgeons face, the stigma associated with accessing support, and the need for surgeon specific interventions. Alongside 1:1 psychology and coaching, this has led me to co-develop an improvement collaborative in the Royal College of Surgeons of England focusing on supporting surgeons after adverse events (SUPPORT). I am a Visiting Fellow with the University of Bournemouth’s Surgeon Wellbeing Research Team and an Ambassador for the charity Doctors in Distress.
My approach is grounded in practical, values-based approaches to promoting psychological safety within teams and across healthcare organisations, based on my belief that 'Resilience is between us, not just within us'.
